All Party Parliamentary Groups

Attended the inaugural meeting of the Project Delivery All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) today. It was a really worthwhile session. The speakers were impressive: informed, clear, and genuinely engaging. It was refreshing to see a real commitment to learning from global best practices in project management.

Parliamentary Apprenticeships Fair

As a proud member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Apprenticeships, I was delighted to attend this year’s Parliamentary Apprenticeships Fair. The event took place on Wednesday 12th February in the Attlee Suite, aligning with National Apprenticeships Week.

The flagship event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including apprentices, employers, and education providers. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with those at the heart of England’s apprenticeships system and to discuss both the successes and ongoing challenges of delivering high-quality training and career pathways.

Some of the UK’s leading apprentice employers and education providers were in attendance, offering insight into the future of skills development and workforce planning. Exhibitors included BAE Systems, Babcock, and the Co-op, all of whom are well-known for their long-standing commitment to apprenticeships.

The event also welcomed representatives from top academic institutions such as London Southbank University, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Salford, each showcasing the role of higher education in apprenticeship pathways. Innovative training organisations like Multiverse, Engineering UK, Hospitality Industry Training, Warwick Manufacturing Group, and Ada, the National College for Digital Skills brought a wealth of knowledge and showcased the diverse sectors benefiting from apprenticeship programmes.
